Our commitment
Diversity & Inclusion
A positive, empowering, inclusive and innovative culture — so every member of the global fire community feels safe and valued.
Why it matters
Stronger for our differences
Being a diverse and inclusive organization enables the International Association of Wildland Fire to learn from others, grow our understanding, and find new ways to address, understand and implement solutions to complex problems. The IAWF desires to maintain a positive, empowering, inclusive and innovative culture that enables all members of the global fire community to feel safe and valued when contributing to the IAWF. We want to operate in a flexible and open manner to meet our membership’s needs and to help members achieve their fullest potential.
Principles of Conduct
Living our values, leading by example
IAWF places high importance on the values of integrity, responsibility and reputation. Our leadership has developed the Principles of Conduct to define our accepted and unacceptable ethical behaviors — guidelines for all members at all times, and for non-members participating in any IAWF activity.
If you witness or are subjected to unacceptable behavior at an IAWF event, notify an IAWF representative immediately — face to face, by email, by phone to any IAWF officer or board member, through a Diversity and Inclusivity Committee member, or anonymously via the Talk To Spot application.

PLEASE KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE. These are common symptoms and experiences for those working in highly stressful situations — especially emergency first responders and wildland fire personnel, and their families. As difficult as it is, the first step is reaching out and asking for help.
